Revlon Color Burst Lipstick in BLUSH

I've been wanting to try out some lip sticks from Revlon for some time now.  I just could never justify myself buying the lipsticks at full price and plus I rarely wear lipstick.  A few weeks ago, I was at ULTA and they had a sale going on, so I picked this Revlon lipstick.

Revlon Color Burst Lipstick: Blush

Review:

Pros:
~Creamy and moisturizing
~Light smell, not so fragrant nor plastic
~Pigmented color
~Lustre finish (soft shimmer, not so matte nor frost)
~Affordable
~Nice packaging

Cons:
~Not a big range of colors
~May not be stocked in some stores
~Certain colors may be particularly sheer

Overall I liked this lipstick.  The color is a nice soft pink blush color.  It is a nude lipstick with hint of pink.  Since my lips a bit pigmented, the lipstick color was washed out some and did not show up as much as I would like.  If you need some color, you may have to find a different color from the Revlon line.  The price of the lipstick can vary depending on where you buy it from.  Try buying the lipsticks when they are on sale, discounted, or at a deal for BOGO.  For those who are starting to use more makeup, Revlon is an exceptional line of cosmetics.  The brand is great for starting out and eventually moving on to other brands.

CVS Beauty Sale - 50-75% off

If you haven't heard yet, most CVS drugstores is clearing out tons of cosmetics in their beauty aisle.  Usually this happens at lease 2-3 times a year where they will put many items on sale.

via CVS.com

The selection may be random per store, as one store may have a certain item discounted whereas another store will not be discounted.   Get anywhere from 50% to 70% off selected items.  If you see a orange/pink or green round stick with either 50% or 75% off, then you know that it will be discounted at the register.

Some items I found on sale were:

L'Oreal HIP lipglosses
Revlon Lipsticks
Revlon Nail polishes
Neutrogena Face Products
Maybelline Mascaras

CVS Sale Tips:

Be sure to check out CVS ad for any BOGO deals
Items without the sticker may be discounted (stock guy probably missed item))
Coupons: find them, use them, and save some more money
Start now, many stores may be cleared out already

As for me, I did check out my local CVS store, but I didn't find anything that I really needed or lemmed for.  Lots of items were already gone, so I just left, which is good, as I need to be saving some money! I know the sale has been going on for a few weeks now in various places, but many are just starting out this week.  Do try to go and buy some items if you have time and the money! This is definitely a great sale!

Wet n Wild Haul

A local retail store had a 50% off sale on all Wet N Wild Cosmetics last week.
I was so excited!! I picked up a few things I've been holding off on- so glad I got them at these prices!

Here's my little haul:

From top left to right:
WnW Mega Eyes cream eyeliner, Wet Shine n/p in Hallucinate and Kaleidoscope, Mega Glo Illuminating powders in Catwalk Pink and Strike-a-pose-rose, Color Icon eyeshadow singles in Brulee and Nutty, Cover All concealer in Medium & matte lipstick in Just Peachy.

Swatches:

My favorites are: Mega Glo powder in Strike-a-pose-rose (a smooth & beautiful bronzy rose shade), both Color Icon eyeshadows (very pigmented and blendable) and both nail polishes (love the glitters).

I have yet to try the cream eyeliner and the concealer.
The cream eyeliner looks and sounds promising (from the massive reviews), but the concealer has gotten quite a few negative reviews on MUA and other makeup sites.
Will do an updated post to let you all know how it goes. =)

As always, thanks for reading!

Maybelline Dream Mousse foundations - a review

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse:
Price tag: ranges from $7-$10 depending on retailer

Description: Creamy & smooth texture.
Shade- 180 Nude Beige (a light-medium warm/ pink toned beige)
(This shade was a perfect match for my skin. For reference, I wear MAC's NC 25.)

Pros: easy to apply (with a sponge or foundation brush), hydrating (good for normal to dry skin), decent price tag, easy to travel with, medium coverage & dewy finish.

Cons: limited shade selection, no mirror, small amount of product, not suitable for oily skin

Overall I do really like this foundation. I have combo-oily skin (dry around my nose and chin, and oily on my t-zone) and I can make this work. I have to pat off excess shine one to two times throughout the day. I LOVE the finish. The coverage works well for me (on my days where I'm in a rush, I don't even need concealer). I prefer using a wedge or beauty blender-type sponge for application. It is great for when I only have 5-10 mins to spare for foundation.
Do I recommend this product? -Yes

Product Rating: 4/5

Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse:
Price tag: ranges from $7-$10 depending on retailer

Description: Thick whipped/mousse texture.
Shade- Sandy Beige Medium 1 (a medium cool/ yellow toned beige)
(This shade was a tad too tan for me, it would probably suit me in the summer.)

Pros: Pump w/ bottle, pump can twist to close, good amount of product, slightly better shade selection, light-medium coverage

Cons: can be cakey, glass bottle, not suitable for oily skin

I didn't like this foundation as much as the dream smooth mousse. I found it was cakey and didn't leave the same nice finish as the dream smooth. It also made my face shinier at the end of the day. This is a very average foundation.
Do I recommend this product? -No

Rating: 2.5/5
